I can’t always like get braids that often so I’ve been trying to find other methods without getting any type of weave asa protective style is buns a good one or is twists as people said the best way to retain length ? Thoughts?

gardenedcoils Doing twists is a better way to retain length. Buns are ok but if you put them in your hair excessively it will cause breakage in your crown area because of the constant tension from scrunchies and hair ties. I’m speaking for experience! I literally had to get my second big chop in 2017 because I was wearing ponytails & buns too much and it broke off the middle of my hair. Nothing could be done
moniquebruh @lillypop originals okay okay I’ll take heed to that thank you 🙏🏿
Jaleen❤︎ Buns can be a protective style. Just make sure you don’t make it too tight, and make sure you refresh it every other day!
samame_💖 If you do two high ponytails and braid them and then twist into a bun, then it can be a protective hairstyle.

mya_rose Yes! Buns are the best. They are my favorite protective style. You just have to be careful to not cause tons of tension on your scalp. Which will cause breakage. My tip is to slick your hair to make it look nice, but not actually pull back hard. More information on my page.
